Al Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim is open to considering offers from other clubs after failing to reach an agreement with the Egyptian club over a new contract, a source close to the player told FilGoal.com.
Ibrahim’s current deal with Al Ahly expires at the end of the season, leaving his future increasingly uncertain.
“The player is open to considering any offers made to him, given that he has not yet reached an agreement with Al Ahly over renewing his contract,” the source said.
Al Ahly have also maintained their position on contract negotiations involving Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany. The club are understood to be unwilling to offer additional benefits outside the contracts or remove the appearance-related payment clause for either player.
FilGoal.com previously reported that Al Ahly had made Ibrahim their final renewal offer. The proposal consisted of an annual salary of 25 million Egyptian pounds, with a further 10 million Egyptian pounds linked to the club winning trophies.
The defender is currently recovering from an injury suffered during Al Ahly’s match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the fourth round of the Egyptian League.
Ibrahim sustained a sprain to the medial ligament and a tear to the lateral ligament in his ankle. The Egypt international continues to follow a programme of physiotherapy and rehabilitation while the club waits to determine whether he will be fit to face Zamalek.
Al Ahly are scheduled to play Zamalek in the league derby on 11 October. Before that fixture, they will face Asyut Petroleum in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup.
