Real Madrid are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah as they consider options to strengthen their defence during the next summer transfer window.
According to German newspaper Bild, the England international has attracted close attention from Real Madrid, with manager Jose Mourinho viewing him as a suitable addition to the squad.
Quansah’s ability to operate in several defensive positions is understood to be a key factor behind the club’s interest. His versatility has also placed him on the radar of a number of other European clubs seeking to reinforce their back lines.
The 23-year-old is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 2030 after joining the German club from Liverpool in the summer of 2025.
Liverpool reportedly retained a buy-back clause as part of that move. The Premier League club can bring Quansah back for 70 million euros, with the clause valid until 15 June.
However, other reports suggest Bayer Leverkusen could be willing to allow the defender to leave for about 50 million euros. That possibility could lead to negotiations over Quansah’s future before the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid’s interest is therefore part of a wider picture around the England defender, whose capacity to cover more than one defensive role has increased his appeal across Europe.
