Kingsley Coman made his return from injury as Al Nassr prepared for their Riyadh derby against Al-Diriyah with a 2-1 friendly victory over Saudi First Division side Al Anwar on Saturday.
The match took place less than a week before Al Nassr face Al-Diriyah in the eighth round of the Saudi Pro League. The derby is scheduled for 9 October at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh.
Senegal forward Sadio Mane opened the scoring for Al Nassr before young midfielder Saad Haqawi added a second goal. Al Anwar pulled one back, but Al Nassr held on for the win.
The main positive for Al Nassr was the return of Coman, who had been sidelined with an injury. The France winger started the match, while Saudi Arabia international Abdulrahman Ghareeb also returned after recovering from an injury and came on as a substitute.
Al Nassr confirmed the players’ involvement in the friendly through a post on the club’s official social media account.
The result gives Al Nassr a useful victory before their next league fixture, although their focus will now turn to the meeting with Al-Diriyah.
Al Nassr are currently third in the Saudi Pro League table with 16 points from seven matches. Their record consists of five wins, one draw and one defeat.
They are two points behind leaders Al Hilal and one point below second-placed Al-Ittihad.
