Fabian Ruiz leaves Spain camp to attend birth of first child

Fabian Ruiz has left Spain’s training camp in Oviedo and travelled to Paris for the birth of his first child, ruling him out of Saturday evening’s Nations League match against Czech Republic.

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s departure was reported by Mundo Deportivo as Spain prepare to face Czech Republic in the third round of the competition.

Ruiz is the latest player to be unavailable to Spain, although his absence comes for a positive and personal reason. He will not be involved in the match after leaving the squad to be with his family in Paris.

Pau Cubarsi and Carlos Espi had already been withdrawn from Spain’s squad, meaning neither player can be brought back to replace Ruiz.

UEFA regulations state that a team’s player list is closed at 23:59 on the day before a match. Spain are therefore unable to call up another player for the fixture against Czech Republic.
