Zamalek are set to face ZED in the Egypt Capital Cup with a squad featuring players from their 2007 and 2009 age groups, after an interim coaching staff was appointed for the match.
The two sides will meet in the opening round of the group stage on Wednesday, 7 October.
FilGoal.com previously reported that Zamalek were considering using youth and academy players for the fixture, and also revealed that Ibrahim Salah would take charge of the team on a temporary basis.
Mohamed Wanees and Hossam Ashour El-Taki, who play for Zamalek’s youth team, are expected to be involved after recently training with the senior squad.
The club will also call on Omar Abdel Aziz, Mohamed Hamad and Mohamed Farag, all members of the 2007 team. The trio are currently with Egypt’s youth national team at the North Africa qualifiers being held in Ismailia and will join Zamalek after the tournament ends.
Ahmed Safwat and Adham Haseeb, who represent Zamalek’s 2009 team, are also due to join the squad. They are currently with Egypt’s youth national team at the Friendship Tournament in Switzerland and will link up with the club after returning to Cairo.
Zamalek are expected to name further players from their 2007 and 2009 teams in the coming hours, with the final list to be confirmed before the training camp.
Zamalek’s interim coaching staff
The temporary staff appointed for the match against ZED will be led by Ibrahim Salah as head coach.

Ahmed Abdel Aziz, the goalkeeper coach for Zamalek’s 2009 team, will assume responsibility for the goalkeepers.
The newly formed staff will begin preparing for the match on Monday, two days before the fixture.
