Real Madrid are tracking Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah as they consider adding to their defensive options in next summer’s transfer window.
The 23-year-old has attracted attention at the Spanish club because of his ability to operate in more than one position across the back line. Quansah can play as a centre-back or at right-back, giving him the versatility Real Madrid are seeking in potential defensive recruits.
Quansah joined Bayer Leverkusen from Liverpool at the beginning of last season and has since become the subject of interest from several European clubs.
According to German newspaper Bild, Real Madrid are monitoring the England defender closely as they assess possible solutions for strengthening their defence. His capacity to cover different roles is understood to be a particularly appealing factor for the club.
Liverpool retain an option to buy Quansah back for 70m euros. That clause remains valid until 15 June next year, giving the Premier League club a defined period in which it could seek to bring the defender back.
Real Madrid are not the only club following Quansah’s situation, with a number of other European sides also interested in the Bayer Leverkusen player.
Quansah has made six appearances for Bayer Leverkusen since the start of the current season and has scored one goal.
He also featured at right-back for England at the 2026 World Cup.
