Hazem Imam, a member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association and supervisor of the national team, has declined to continue in his position as the team’s supervisor following the appointment of Egypt’s coaching staff led by the Hassan twins.
According to sources close to the matter, Hazem Imam has informed the board members of the Football Association that he will remain a supporter of the coaching staff but will not officially supervise the national team.
He emphasized that the coaching staff is Egyptian and can communicate with all officials of the Football Association at any time, unlike a foreign coach who usually requires a single point of contact for communication.
In recent days, the Egyptian Football Association announced the appointment of Hossam Hassan as the technical director of the Egyptian national team, replacing Portuguese coach Roy Vitoria.
Hazem Imam’s decision marks a significant development in the Egyptian football scene, as he has been a prominent figure in the management and supervision of the national team in recent years.
His role has been instrumental in providing guidance and support to the coaching staff and players during critical periods.
Imam’s stance reflects a broader shift in the approach to the management of the national team, with an emphasis on empowering local coaching talent and fostering a sense of unity and collaboration within Egyptian football.
