Barcelona are monitoring Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi as they assess options to strengthen their attack, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Tresoldi was among the forwards considered by Barcelona for the central striker position after their chances of signing Julian Alvarez declined during the summer transfer window. The Catalan club eventually decided to bring in Gabriel Jesus instead.
The 21-year-old has continued to attract attention with his performances for Club Brugge. He scored 23 goals and supplied nine assists last season, finishing as the Belgian club’s leading scorer and establishing himself as one of the standout forwards in the Belgian league.
Barcelona are also understood to appreciate qualities beyond his goalscoring record. Tresoldi’s ability to contribute to team play and link the different areas of the pitch has impressed the club’s officials, with those attributes considered suited to Barcelona’s style.
Although he has limited experience at the highest level, Tresoldi has made a strong start to the current campaign. He has scored five goals in nine appearances for Club Brugge so far this season.
The forward also impressed with Germany Under-21 during the latest international break. He scored against Latvia before claiming a hat-trick against Malta.
Those performances have taken Tresoldi’s combined total for club and country to nine goals since the beginning of the season. His progress has strengthened the impression that he could take on a more significant role in the future.
Tresoldi has not yet been selected for the Germany senior team, but he is among the players being considered for inclusion in upcoming international camps under Jurgen Klopp.
Barcelona’s interest comes as the club continues to examine attacking options, with Tresoldi’s production, versatility in possession and recent development placing him on their list of potential targets.
