Zamalek appoint Ibrahim Salah to lead young side in Egypt Capital Cup opener

Zamalek are set to field a team of young and youth players against Zed in their opening Egypt Capital Cup match, with Ibrahim Salah appointed to take charge of the side.

The decision comes with the fixture scheduled four days before Zamalek’s league meeting with Al Ahly, prompting the club to use the competition to give its younger players an opportunity.

Salah will serve as head coach, supported by Ahmed Rizk and Islam Gamal as assistant coaches. Rizk is the head coach of Zamalek’s 2011 team, while Gamal is an assistant coach with the club’s 2010 side.

Ahmed Abdel Aziz has been named goalkeeper coach. He holds the same role with Zamalek’s 2009 team.

The newly formed coaching staff will begin preparing for the match against Zed on Monday, two days before the fixture.

Zamalek have been drawn in Group A of the Egypt Capital Cup alongside Zed, Wadi Degla, Tala’ea El Gaish and Al Ittihad Alexandria.

First-team preparations for Al Ahly

The first-team coaching staff, led by Moataz Gamal, will instead oversee preparations for the league meeting with Al Ahly.

Gamal will work alongside assistant coach Salah Soliman and goalkeeper coach Ayman Taher.

Zamalek are also set to enter a five-day training camp as they prepare for the Egyptian Premier League fixture against Al Ahly.

The club are second in the league table with 13 points, level with third-placed Al Ahly. Zamalek are above their rivals on goal difference, while Pyramids lead the standings with a maximum 15 points.
