Barcelona have been reassured that Raphinha has not suffered a serious muscle injury after medical tests on Friday, with the Brazil forward expected to be available to face Getafe in La Liga next Saturday.
Raphinha underwent examinations to assess the pain in his right thigh after developing muscle oedema while on international duty with Brazil. He played the entirety of Brazil’s first friendly during the current international break before featuring for the first half of their second match.
The tests were carried out at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and produced encouraging results. According to Sport, they ruled out a more serious muscular problem, easing concerns for Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.
Mundo Deportivo also reported that Barcelona had been relieved by the outcome and said Raphinha would be present for the meeting with Getafe next Saturday.
There had already been confidence within the club that the problem would not worsen, based on information provided by Raphinha himself. However, Barcelona wanted the player to undergo further medical checks before reaching a firm conclusion about his condition.
The club’s coaching staff will nevertheless take a cautious approach to Raphinha’s recovery next week. Barcelona are due to resume training on Monday, when his fitness will continue to be monitored.
