Retired footballer Andile Jali has won his case against former club Chippa United after the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC) ruled that he was owed outstanding payments.
Jali, known as ‘AJ15’, brought the claim with his representative, Legal Practitioner Thembelani Mpakati of Mpakati Inc Attorneys.
The former Bafana Bafana midfield anchor reportedly went for months without receiving his full salary during his time with the Chilli Boys. In some instances, he was paid only part of the money due to him.
“Andile was owed money by Chippa,” Mpakati told Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000.
“Sometimes when his salary was paid, it was partially paid. These were the monies owed. The PSL DRC ruled in Jali’s favour.
“Today [Thursday] they deducted money from the club’s grant and sent it to us, the attorneys, to pay Andile.”
The decision is the latest in a series of disputes involving Jali and former clubs.
In 2023, he was involved in a case against Moroka Swallows after claiming unfair dismissal. Following the sale of the club’s status to Marumo Gallants, Jali’s R5.7 million claim was unsuccessful.
However, the DRC ordered Marumo Gallants to pay him R880,000 in image rights.
