Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku crowned September Premier League Creative Moment winner
Ipswich Town winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been rewarded for one of the Premier League’s most audacious moments after his sensational double nutmeg against Everton was voted the Creative Moment of the Month for September.
Fatawu produced the piece of individual brilliance during Ipswich’s meeting with Everton, turning a loose pass into a sequence that left two opponents embarrassed before nearly producing an extraordinary goal.
The Ghana international needed just two touches to send the ball through the legs of Vitalii Mykolenko and then James Garner.
Double nutmeg and audacious lob
After winning possession from an errant pass, Fatawu immediately spotted an opportunity to attack. His first touch took him beyond Mykolenko, before he repeated the trick on Garner with his next.
The winger then attempted to cap the move with an audacious effort from inside his own half, spotting Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford off his line.
Pickford managed to push the ball wide, denying Fatawu what would have been one of the season’s most remarkable goals.
The moment nevertheless caught the attention of supporters and the expert panel responsible for selecting the monthly award.
Fatawu’s effort was chosen from a field of creative moments produced across the Premier League in September, beating competition from Martin Zubimendi, Emiliano Buendia, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
Nearly repeats Leicester wondergoal
The Ipswich winger came close to recreating another remarkable long-range effort from his past.
In December 2025, while playing for Leicester City against Ipswich, Fatawu scored from inside his own half with an audacious strike.
His latest attempt against Everton came just seven months before he completed his switch between the two clubs, adding another extraordinary long-range effort to his collection.
Seventh winner of monthly award
Fatawu becomes the seventh recipient of the Adobe Creative Moment of the Month award, which was introduced in January 2026 to recognise outstanding moments of imagination and skill in the Premier League.
He is also the first Ipswich player to claim a monthly Premier League prize since Jens Cajuste won an award in March 2025.
For Fatawu, the recognition underlines the winger’s ability to produce moments of flair and unpredictability, with his double nutmeg and near-miss lob against Everton now officially recognised among the Premier League’s standout creative moments of September.
