Moussa Ndiaye could return for Werder Bremen against Dortmund
Moussa Ndiaye remains doubtful for Werder Bremen’s friendly against Twente Enschede on Friday, but the left-back has not been ruled out of the Bundesliga restart against Borussia Dortmund on October 9.
The defender is currently dealing with groin discomfort and will not return to training during the current week.
Despite the delay, Werder’s head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer, insists there is no reason for major concern. “He was operated on two years ago. His groin problems are new, but they are not causing us any worries,” Niemeyer explained. Regarding the Dortmund fixture, he added: “An appearance in Dortmund has not yet been ruled out.”
Ndiaye joined Bremen on loan from Anderlecht, but his start at the club has been frustrating. The Senegalese defender has been included in only one matchday squad since his arrival, featuring in the 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig. His groin issue has prevented him from taking further opportunities to impress.
The remaining time before the trip to Dortmund could still allow Ndiaye to recover, although his progress will determine whether he can be considered. Werder will avoid rushing him, particularly because the player previously underwent groin surgery.
