UEFA receives Real Madrid documents in Barcelona’s Negreira case

UEFA has confirmed that Real Madrid has submitted a substantial collection of documents concerning its ongoing investigation into the Negreira case involving Barcelona.

The documents have been received by investigators from UEFA’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee and will be assessed as part of their continuing analysis of the case, Spanish radio station Cadena SER reported.

“UEFA can confirm that it has received from Real Madrid a significant amount of documentation relating to the ongoing investigation into Barcelona in the case involving Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the Refereeing Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation,” UEFA said in an official statement.

“UEFA’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee investigators have also received this latest documentation and will take it into account as part of the ongoing analysis of the case.”

Real Madrid announced in June that it had provided UEFA with documents relating to the investigation. The club said at the time that the material contained evidence connected to payments made by Barcelona to Negreira.

The case centres on transfers from Barcelona to a company owned by Negreira. His former position with the refereeing committee has formed part of the judicial investigation into the payments.

Spanish judicial authorities have previously formally charged Barcelona as a club, along with its former presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, and former refereeing official Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.
