The Italian Football Federation has submitted details of 14 stadiums to UEFA as potential venues for matches at Euro 2032.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Italy and Turkey, with Italy due to stage part of the competition.
UEFA will now examine and assess the stadium proposals before the Italian Football Federation makes its final selection of five venues to host matches in Italy.
The 14 shortlisted stadiums are located across 13 Italian cities: Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Salerno, Turin and Verona.
Rome is the only city with two stadiums on the list. One of them, however, remains at the planning stage and construction has not yet begun. It is the proposed new Pietralata stadium for Roma.
The list also includes San Siro in Milan, following the completion of its redevelopment. The stadium is intended to be shared by the city’s two clubs, Milan and Inter.
The Italian Football Federation said UEFA would begin reviewing the submitted files to establish whether the proposed venues meet the required standards and conditions for hosting matches at the tournament.
It added that the five stadiums selected to host Euro 2032 matches in Italy would be announced once the assessment and verification process had been completed and the venues’ compliance with the necessary criteria had been confirmed.
