Egypt star Omar Marmoush breaks into top Premier League dribblers despite Tottenham woes
Egyptian international Omar Marmoush has earned recognition for his individual dribbling ability after being included among the Premier League’s most successful dribblers following the opening five rounds of the season.
Marmoush, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Manchester City on a season-long loan with an option to buy, has endured a difficult start to life in north London, with Spurs struggling for results and goals in the early stages of the campaign.
Tottenham currently sit 19th in the Premier League with just two points from their opening five matches. The London club had struggled to find the back of the net, scoring for the first time in the league in their most recent match against Aston Villa.
Marmoush has also been unable to open his Premier League account for Tottenham, adding to what has been a frustrating beginning for the Egyptian forward.
Despite his lack of goals, the 27-year-old has shown signs of his individual quality, particularly when taking on defenders.
According to football statistics and data analysis website Squawka, Marmoush ranks sixth among players with the highest number of successful dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, among players who have completed a full 90 minutes.
Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus leads the ranking with an impressive average of 7.3 successful dribbles per 90 minutes, while his teammate Savinho occupies second place with 4.9.
Marmoush follows in sixth position with an average of 3.2 successful dribbles per 90 minutes.
The statistic highlights one of the Egyptian forward’s key strengths despite Tottenham’s difficult start to the campaign. His ability to carry the ball, beat defenders and create openings has remained evident even though he is yet to translate those individual efforts into goals for his new club.
With Tottenham searching for their first league victory and Marmoush still waiting for his first Premier League goal in a Spurs shirt, the Egyptian will be hoping his individual form can soon turn into a greater contribution on the scoresheet.
For now, his place among the league’s most effective dribblers provides a positive statistical marker during an otherwise challenging opening spell at Tottenham.
