Ahmed Kalousha reflects on failed Zamalek move

Enppi defender Ahmed Kalousha has revealed that he previously signed for Zamalek but the proposed transfer ultimately collapsed after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.

Kalousha disclosed that the failed move took place around three years ago during the tenure of Portuguese coach Jose Gomes, explaining that despite his agreement with Zamalek, the clubs could not finalize the transfer.

“I signed for Zamalek before, but it wasn’t meant to be, and no one can refuse big clubs like Al-Ahly or Zamalek,” Kalousha said in a televised interview with ON Sport.

The defender explained that the move happened during Gomes’ time in charge of Zamalek but broke down because the two clubs were unable to agree on a specific request made by Enppi chairman Ayman Al-Shari’i.

“This happened three years ago, during the time of the Portuguese coach Jose Gomes, but the two clubs did not reach an agreement, due to a specific request from Ayman Al-Shari’i, and I understood that,” he added.

Kalousha has also been linked with a possible move to Al Ahly, with his performances attracting attention as the Cairo giants continue to monitor defensive options.

The defender, however, insisted that he is not allowing transfer speculation to distract him from his responsibilities on the pitch.

“It is a great honor for me to have my name associated with Al Ahly Club, but I have been focusing on my work since the beginning of the season. I set a plan for myself to focus on the field, and leave anything else to my agent,” he said.

For Kalousha, maintaining his form and continuing to perform for Enppi remains the priority, regardless of the clubs being linked with him.

“The pitch is the most important thing. I hear what is being said, but the pitch is what brings everything,” he stated.

He also expressed his appreciation to former coach Yasser Radwan, who worked with him during his time at Al-Nasr Club, for the role he played in his development and his belief in his abilities.

“I thank Captain Yasser Radwan, who previously coached me at Al-Nasr Club. He loves me and knows my abilities well,” Kalousha added.

The defender also spoke highly of Al Ahly, acknowledging the stature of the Egyptian giants while expressing confidence in his own ability to compete at the highest level.

“Al Ahly is one of the best clubs in Africa, and any club in the world prepares well to face them. Al Ahly fans are always looking for a win, whatever the tournament or the opponent, but I have abilities that I can show,” he concluded.

Kalousha’s comments leave his future open, with the defender maintaining that his immediate focus is on his performances while his agent handles any potential transfer discussions.
