Dani Olmo plans Dinamo Zagreb return – and wants to coach the club

Dani Olmo intends to finish his playing career at Dinamo Zagreb and hopes to begin his coaching career with the Croatian club, according to his agent Andy Bara.

Olmo, who plays for Barcelona, has a strong personal connection with Dinamo Zagreb, where he began his career. Bara said that relationship remains central to the midfielder’s long-term plans, despite recent speculation over his future.

The international break prompted reports linking Olmo with Bayern Munich, with the 26-year-old not always guaranteed a place in Barcelona’s starting line-up. However, Bara said there had been no contact with Bayern Munich at present.

“He wants to finish his career at Dinamo Zagreb and hopes that will happen, even as a coach,” Bara told Sport. “He wants to begin his coaching career at Dinamo.”

Bara said Olmo’s attachment to the club has remained clear even since his move to Barcelona.

“Dani still walks around his home wearing his number seven Dinamo Zagreb shirt with his name on it, even now that he is at Barcelona,” he said.

“When other players approach him, everyone knows this story. When you mention Olmo, the first association is Dinamo Zagreb.

“He is much more connected to Dinamo than people who are supposedly associated with the club but are not.”

Olmo rejected Bayern twice

Bara also revealed that Olmo turned down the chance to join Bayern Munich on two occasions – first while he was playing for Dinamo Zagreb and later during his time at RB Leipzig.

“I advised him to reject Bayern when he was at Dinamo,” Bara said. “I told him that he needed to take another step, and that is what happened.”

Olmo subsequently received another offer from Bayern Munich while at RB Leipzig. Barcelona and other clubs were also interested, but he chose to move to the Catalan side.

“He later received another offer from Bayern when he was a Leipzig player, while Barcelona and other clubs were interested in him too,” Bara said.

“We chose Barcelona. Perhaps it was not the best option, but everything went well for him afterwards.”

Olmo joined Barcelona after establishing himself at RB Leipzig and has since continued to feature for Spain. Bara highlighted the player’s achievements with the national team, including winning the European Championship, the Nations League and the World Cup.

“He has won the European Championship, the Nations League and the World Cup, and has become one of the top 10 players in the national team,” Bara said.

“His story is like a film, and I am happy that I was part of it.”
