Kaizer Chiefs receive timely boost as Duba and Silva return to training

Kaizer Chiefs have been boosted by the return of attackers Wandile Duba and Silva to full training ahead of the resumption of the domestic season.

The pair have been absent since suffering training injuries in September 2026, but were involved in recent sessions with the first team and appear close to returning to competitive action.

Duba sustained a hip and groin strain on 15 September 2026, shortly after making an impressive start to the campaign. The forward scored three goals in four league appearances before being sidelined.

His last appearance came in Chiefs’ 1-1 draw with Polokwane City on 12 September 2026.

Silva, the newly signed Bissau-Guinean forward, has been out for longer after suffering his own training setback. He had scored once before his progress was interrupted, having earlier emerged as an important player for the technical team.

The return of both players will ease the pressure on a Chiefs attack that has also been affected by injuries to Khanyisa Mayo, Lebohang Maboe and Langelihle Phili.

Chiefs manage attacking absences

With several forwards unavailable, Luke Baartman and Etiosa Ighodaro have carried much of the attacking responsibility in recent weeks.

Chiefs are currently fourth in the league table with 13 points from their matches, having scored 12 goals.

Their most recent competitive fixture ended goalless, with Chiefs drawing 0-0 against Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium on 20 September 2026.

Duba’s early-season form had provided a significant attacking outlet before his injury, while Silva’s return gives the club another option as the team prepares for its next fixtures.

The sight of both players training fully suggests they could be available for selection when domestic football resumes, although the club has not provided a specific date for either forward’s competitive return.
