Egypt Under-17s to face Canada in International Friendship Tournament play-off

Egypt’s Under-17 side, made up of players born in 2009, will play Canada in the International Friendship Tournament in Switzerland on Saturday 3 October.

The match will determine fifth place in the competition and is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 local time. It will be broadcast on beIN SPORTS.

Egypt finished third in Group [Group not named in source] after defeats by England and Colombia, both by 2-1 scorelines.

They secured a victory over South Korea on penalties after the match ended 1-1 following normal time. Under the tournament’s points system, a team winning a penalty shootout receives two points, while the defeated side earns one.

Canada finished third in the other group with two points and will now meet Egypt in the positional play-off.

The International Friendship Tournament features eight teams split into two groups of four. The group winners face each other in the final, while the remaining teams meet their equivalent finishers from the other group to decide the other positions.

As a result, the third-placed sides Egypt and Canada will contest the match for fifth place.

Egypt’s Under-17 team is managed by Hussein Abdel Latif and is preparing for the Under-17 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Qatar next November.
