Zamalek deny Ahmed Fatouh transfer to Al Ahly Benghazi

Zamalek have denied reports linking left-back Ahmed Fatouh to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, insisting that the club has no intention of selling the player.

The enterprising defender has been heavily linked with a move to Al Ahly Benghazi as the winter transfer window approaches.

However, Zamalek head of media Maher Gharib has swiftly denied such reports, stressing no agreement has been reached for the defender’s departure.

“The relationship between Zamalek and Al-Ahly of Libya is excellent. The club’s official position is clear, which is not to agree to the sale of Fatouh,” Gharib said.

“Fatouh’s agent was informed of the club’s decision several days ago. He is a Zamalek player and one of the team’s leaders, and he has an influential role in the locker room.

“All due respect to Fatouh and his agent. If there is anything official, we will announce it.”

Gharib also urged Zamalek supporters to disregard reports circulating on social media about the player’s future, insisting that the club would communicate any official development itself.

“I urge Zamalek fans not to pay attention to what is being said here and there on social media. Any talk coming from outside the club about selling Fatouh, we are not responsible for it,” he added.

The comments come amid conflicting reports over an offer from Al Ahly Benghazi for Fatouh.

Zamalek board member Ahmed Suleiman also rejected claims attributed to Fatouh’s agent, Samir Salah, that the Egyptian club had demanded $700,000 to sanction the transfer.

Suleiman challenged the agent to identify the person at Zamalek who allegedly made such a demand.

“Mr. Samir, the agent of Ahmed Fatouh, stated on the Al-La’eeb program that Zamalek Club requested $700,000 for Fatouh’s transfer,” Suleiman wrote on his personal account.

“If you have the courage, say who from Zamalek club requested this amount in exchange for Fatouh’s transfer.”

Salah had previously claimed that Al Ahly Benghazi initially submitted a $500,000 offer for the left-back.

According to the agent, Zamalek rejected that proposal and requested at least $700,000 before later asking for the offer to be increased to $1 million after a second bid was submitted.

With the two sides presenting different accounts of the negotiations, Zamalek have maintained that Fatouh remains a player they do not want to sell.

Fatouh’s current contract with Zamalek runs until June 30, 2027, meaning the club remains in control of his future unless an agreement is reached over his departure.
