Eintracht Frankfurt’s Noel Aseko sidelined due to workload management

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Noel Aseko will miss Germany’s upcoming Under-21 fixture against Malta as part of a planned workload-management decision.

Head coach Antonio Di Salvo has chosen not to select the 20-year-old, with the German Football Association confirming that the decision is precautionary rather than injury-related.

The break is understandable given Aséko’s difficult preparation. Persistent knee problems disrupted his summer, forcing him to follow a gradual fitness programme before returning to full match intensity.

He played approximately 70 minutes in Germany’s opening Under-21 match, a 4-0 victory over Latvia. With his workload increasing in recent weeks, the coaching staff decided that another appearance against Malta could create unnecessary physical stress.

Frankfurt have also managed Aséko carefully. The midfielder did not feature during the first two Bundesliga matchdays, but he later recorded 60 minutes on matchday three and another 45 minutes on matchday four. Those outings have given him valuable competitive rhythm without placing excessive demands on his recovering body.

The temporary omission should allow Aséko to continue building fitness before returning to club duties. Frankfurt will hope the controlled approach helps the promising midfielder remain available and gradually establish himself more firmly in the first-team squad.
