Al Ahly plan goalkeeper rotation between El Shenawy and Shobeir

Al Ahly are considering a goalkeeper rotation plan that would see Mohamed El Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir share responsibilities as the Egyptian giants juggle a busy domestic and continental schedule.

As per sources, the initial plan is for Shobeir to feature primarily in Egyptian Premier League matches, while experienced captain El Shenawy would be entrusted with games in the African Confederation Cup and Egypt Cup.

The proposed arrangement is aimed at keeping both goalkeepers match-fit while allowing the technical staff to manage their workload throughout the season.

However, the final decision will rest with head coach Hussein Ammouta and his technical staff, who will assess the two goalkeepers based on their performances during matches and training sessions.

The coaching staff also retains the flexibility to alter the distribution of appearances if circumstances change during the campaign.

Al Ahly currently have two experienced options competing for the goalkeeper position, with El Shenawy bringing years of experience at the highest level and Shobeir continuing to establish himself as a reliable alternative.

The proposed rotation would give both players regular opportunities while ensuring that neither loses match sharpness during a demanding season.
