North Africa qualifiers: Moroccan referee appointed for Egypt v Tunisia youth match

The North Africa Union’s refereeing committee has appointed Moroccan official Mohamed Al-Baroudi to take charge of Egypt’s youth meeting with Tunisia in the North Africa qualifiers for the Youth Africa Cup of Nations.

The third-round fixture will be played at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium at 20:00. Egypt and Tunisia are among five teams competing in the qualifying tournament, which is being hosted by Egypt in Ismailia from 24 September to 6 October.

Al-Baroudi will referee the match, with fellow Moroccan officials Abdelsamad Abraton and Hamza Al-Nasseri appointed as his assistants. Algeria’s Mohamed Rafik Ouaineh will serve as fourth official, while Libya’s Issam Al-Jahawi will act as referee observer.

Egypt began their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Libya. They currently have three points from one match and sit second in the standings.

Tunisia are third with two points from two games. Algeria lead the table with four points from two matches, while Morocco have one point from one game. Libya have no points after losing their opening two fixtures.

The day’s other match will see Morocco face Algeria at the same stadium. That game is scheduled to begin at 16:30.

Ivorian referee Kokoura Hioug has been appointed to officiate the Morocco v Algeria fixture, with former Egyptian referee Samir Othman serving as the referee observer.

The tournament schedule means the Egypt-Tunisia match could have a significant bearing on the positions behind Algeria, with Egypt entering the round after their winning start and Tunisia seeking their first victory of the campaign.
