AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Mali secure crucial away win over Liberia

Mali secured back-to-back victories in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after edging Liberia 1-0 in their second Group K game.

The Eagles entered the encounter with confidence following their opening-day victory over Cape Verde and continued their perfect start to the qualifying campaign with another important three points on the road.

After a goalless opening 78 minutes, Ange Martial Tia broke the deadlock in the 79th minute, scoring the only goal of the game to hand Mali a crucial away victory.

Liberia pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but could not find a way through the Malian defence, as the visitors held on to claim all three points.

The result means Mali have now won both of their opening Group K matches, having defeated Cape Verde in their first game.

For Liberia, the defeat leaves them still searching for their first points after they began their campaign with a 3-1 loss to Rwanda.

Mali will now look to maintain their winning run as the qualification race in Group K continues, while Liberia face the task of bouncing back in their next outing.
