AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Guinea-Bissau hammer Nigeria to record back-to-back wins

Guinea-Bissau produced a stunning result in their second Group L game of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Nigeria.

The Djurtus came into the encounter with confidence after winning their opening qualifier 2-0 away to Tanzania, and they carried that momentum into the clash with the Super Eagles.

Franculino gave Guinea-Bissau the perfect start when he opened the scoring in the 15th minute, putting the hosts in front and setting the tone for an impressive performance.

Nigeria struggled to find a response as Guinea-Bissau maintained their advantage going into the second half.

The home side doubled their lead in the 66th minute through Mama Baldé, leaving Nigeria with a difficult task of trying to fight their way back into the contest.

Guinea-Bissau remained in control during the closing stages and added a third goal in stoppage time when Álvaro Djaló found the net to complete a memorable 3-0 victory.

The result marks Guinea-Bissau’s second consecutive win in Group L after their opening-day success against Tanzania, while Nigeria are left to pick up the pieces following a heavy defeat.
