Mohamed Elneny ready for new challenge with Levadiakos

Mohamed Elneny says he is excited to begin his new chapter with Greek club Levadiakos after signing a one-season contract on a free transfer.

The former Arsenal midfielder joined Levadiakos after leaving Al Jazira at the end of last season, when his contract with the UAE club expired.

Speaking through Levadiakos’ official account, Elneny said: “I have signed with Levadiakos and I am completely ready for this challenge. Everything will be fine.”

He added: “I will give 100% of my effort for the club and its fans, and I am very excited to start my journey.”

The move represents the sixth club of Elneny’s professional career. He began with Al Mokawloon Al Arab before going on to play for Basel, Arsenal, Besiktas and Al Jazira.

Elneny joined Al Jazira in the summer of 2024 after his contract with Arsenal came to an end. He had spent eight years with the Premier League club, although no further details were given about his playing record there.

His arrival comes as Levadiakos look to improve a difficult start to the Greek league season. The club are bottom of the table with one point from their opening five matches.

Levadiakos have lost to PAOK, Panathinaikos, Panetolikos and Olympiacos, while their only point came from a goalless draw against Kifisia.

The club finished fifth in the Greek league last season with 42 points. Their early results this campaign have left them at the foot of the standings, with Elneny now set to begin his latest challenge in Greece.
