Mohamed Elneny returns to Europe with Levadiakos move

Mohamed Elneny has joined Greek side Levadiakos on a free transfer, returning to European football after leaving UAE club Al Jazira at the end of last season.

The deal was announced by Levadiakos on Tuesday, although the club did not disclose any further details. The Greek side confirmed the signing through its social media accounts.

Elneny, 32, welcomed the move in a video message released by the club.

“Hello everyone, I have signed for Greek club Levadiakos and I am very happy to start my career here,” he said.

“I hope everything goes well. I will do my best for this team. Levadiakos fans, I will see you at the next match.”

He added: “I am very excited to start my career with the club.”

The midfielder began his career with El Mokawloon in Egypt before moving to Swiss club Basel. He later represented Arsenal in England, Besiktas in Turkey and Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.

Levadiakos are currently bottom of the Greek league, having collected one point from their opening five matches.
