Ibrahim Adel breaks into Egypt’s top five scorers under Hossam Hassan

Ibrahim Adel scored Egypt’s third goal against South Sudan in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Juba.

The forward came on in the 49th minute as a substitute for Haitham Hassan before finding the net to register his fourth international goal.

All four of Adel’s goals for Egypt have come since Hossam Hassan became national team manager. He previously scored against Cape Verde and Mauritania during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Adel also found the net against Djibouti in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, before adding his fourth goal against South Sudan.

The latest strike moved him into fifth place among the goalscorers during Hassan’s tenure, ahead of Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Rami Rabia.

Egypt began their qualifying campaign with a goalless draw against Angola at Cairo Stadium. South Sudan, meanwhile, lost 2-1 to Malawi in their opening fixture.

Egypt will return to Cairo tomorrow, Wednesday, in preparation for a friendly against South Africa on 4 October.
