Omar Marmoush ended a 139-day wait for a goal by scoring twice as Egypt faced South Sudan in the second round of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
The Manchester City forward struck his first goal in the second half after breaking clear and finishing one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
He then doubled his tally in the closing minutes, rounding the South Sudan goalkeeper before finding the net.
Marmoush had not scored for either his club or country since 13 May, when he scored for Manchester City against Crystal Palace.
His previous goal for Egypt came on 27 March against Saudi Arabia.
The drought had extended across 17 matches for club and country before he ended it against South Sudan.
The brace took Marmoush’s total for Egypt to 11 goals.
