Mozambique v Sudan: Group J leaders seek another win in CAN 2027 qualifying

Mozambique host Sudan on Tuesday, 29 September, at the National Stadium of Zimpeto in Maputo as both sides aim to strengthen their position in Group J of the CAN 2027 qualifiers.

The Mambas began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Senegal, while Sudan opened with a 1-0 victory over Ethiopia. That result has left Sudan at the top of the group ahead of the second round of fixtures.

Kick-off in Maputo is scheduled for 13:00 GMT.

A win would move Mozambique temporarily into first place in Group J, while Sudan are seeking a second successive victory to retain their position at the summit.

The two teams have named their starting line-ups for the match.

Starting line-ups

Mozambique will begin with Ernan Siluane in goal, alongside Edmilsonc, Bruno Wilson, Bruno Langa, Bheu Januario, Alfons Amade, Guima, Gildo Vilanculos, Witi, Geny Catamo and F. Bangal.

Sudan’s starting side includes M. Mustafa, A. Kuku, Mustafa Abdelgader, Bakhit Khamis, S. Barglan, Abdel Raouf, Ammar Taifour, Walieldin Khidir, M. Eisa, Musa Kante and Aamir Abdallah.

Mozambique will be looking to build on their draw with Senegal as they play their first home match of the qualifying campaign. Sudan, meanwhile, will attempt to make it two wins from two after their narrow success against Ethiopia.

The result will determine whether Sudan remain clear at the head of Group J or whether Mozambique can take advantage of home conditions to move above them, at least provisionally.
