Former Tottenham star Bobby Zamora backs Omar Marmoush to turn fortunes around at club

Former Tottenham striker Bobby Zamora believes Omar Marmoush can turn his fortunes around at the club and make a significant impact as the Egyptian looks to find his feet in the Premier League.

Marmoush joined Tottenham from Manchester City on loan last summer with an option to make the move permanent, but his early spell in north London has been difficult.

The Egyptian forward is yet to score for Spurs, while Tottenham are also still searching for their first Premier League victory of the campaign.

Despite the difficult start, Zamora has backed Marmoush to respond positively and believes finding an early goal could be crucial to building his confidence and establishing himself in the Tottenham attack.

“As a striker, I would say that the most important thing for a striker is to score goals early,” Zamora said in comments reported by Spurs Web.

The former Tottenham forward urged Marmoush to remain focused and positive despite the pressure that comes with playing for a club expected to compete for results in the Premier League.

“You must maintain your focus and positivity when you are under pressure to win any opportunity that comes your way in the match,” he added.

Zamora acknowledged that Marmoush has not enjoyed enough clear opportunities to open his Tottenham account since arriving at the club, but believes that could change as the team improves.

“Marmoush did not have enough chances to score, but I think the team will improve in the upcoming matches,” Zamora said.

The competition for attacking places at Tottenham also provides Marmoush with an additional incentive to make an impression.

Zamora believes the Egyptian and Dominic Solanke have an opportunity to take advantage of their chances and establish themselves as the manager’s preferred options in attack.

“Now it’s up to Solanke and Marmoush to seize their opportunity, make their season, and make themselves the coach’s first choice,” he explained.

According to Zamora, the battle for a regular place could ultimately be decided by which player takes advantage of the opportunities presented to him, particularly in front of goal.

“It’s a good opportunity for them right now to prove their worth, so whoever takes the initiative and scores the first goal has a great chance to stay in the team and have a great season,” he concluded.

Marmoush will now hope to return from the international break with renewed confidence and use the upcoming Premier League fixtures to end his wait for a first goal in Tottenham colours.
