Iliman Ndiaye returns to Marseille with Senegal

Iliman Ndiaye will make an emotional return to Marseille on October 4, although this time he will visit the Velodrome as a Senegal international.

The Lions of Teranga are scheduled to face Comoros at the stadium where the forward began his professional journey.

Ndiaye came through Marseille’s academy before leaving for Sheffield United. He later returned to the club in 2023 for €17 million, then moved to Everton before completing a €70 million transfer to Manchester City this summer. His career has changed dramatically, but his connection with Marseille remains strong.

The 26-year-old welcomed the opportunity on social media and invited supporters from both communities to enjoy the occasion together. “Hello everyone, I hope you are well. See you on October 4 for the Senegal-Comoros match at the Vélodrome. I call on the entire Senegalese community, as well as the Comorian community, to celebrate the match together. I cannot wait to see you again at the Vélodrome!” he wrote.

Ndiaye’s previous Marseille spell came during a turbulent campaign featuring three coaches: Marcelino, Gennaro Gattuso and Jean-Louis Gasset. Even so, he finished with four goals and five assists, leaving supporters with affection for the academy graduate who has since reached a new level.
