Al Ahly step up recovery work for Yasser Ibrahim and Ahmed Nabil Koka as Achraf Bencharki returns

Yasser Ibrahim and Ahmed Nabil Koka have begun a new phase of rehabilitation as Al Ahly continue preparing for the resumption of competitive football during the international break.

The pair are following treatment and recovery programmes set by the club’s medical staff, led by Ahmed Gaballah, after recently suffering injuries.

Al Ahly’s players completed recovery and fitness exercises before head coach Houcine Ammouta oversaw a varied technical session. The squad returned to training at the مختار التتش Stadium on Sunday, with the club working to maintain fitness levels and prepare for the fixtures ahead.

Achraf Bencharki also began a gradual return to full team training at the مختار التتش Stadium in Al Gezira on Tuesday morning.

Bencharki had spent the previous 48 hours completing a treatment and rehabilitation programme away from group training after reporting pain caused by inflammation of the Achilles tendon. His return is being managed in accordance with the plan set by Ahmed Gaballah.

Al Ahly’s preparations included a friendly against Libyan side Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati on Monday evening. The match, played at the El Tetsh Stadium, ended in a 4-2 victory for the Egyptian club.

Yassin Marei, Hussein El Shahat, Ahmed Reda and Soufiane Benjedida scored Al Ahly’s goals in the game, which was arranged during the suspension of official competitions.

The club will begin its 2026-27 Egypt Cup League campaign against Assiut Petroleum in the group stage. After that match, Al Ahly will turn its attention to the Cairo derby against Zamalek in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League on 11 October.

Al Ahly are in Group C alongside Eastern Company, ENPPI, El Gouna, Assiut Petroleum and Al Mokawloon Al Arab.

Egyptian league clubs will return to action after the international break for the opening round of the Egypt Cup League before the league schedule resumes. The competition will then pause again in November for another international break.

Bencharki has made five Egyptian Premier League appearances for Al Ahly this season. He has scored once, provided two assists, won a penalty and been named player of the match twice.

Since joining Al Ahly, the Morocco international has played 58 matches, scoring 10 goals and creating 14 more. His involvement will continue to be managed gradually as the club prepares for its upcoming domestic commitments.
