Achraf Bencharki returns to Al Ahly training ahead of Zamalek derby

Achraf Bencharki has returned to group training with Al Ahly after missing sessions because of inflammation in his Achilles tendon.

The Morocco international was included in photographs from Tuesday’s training session published by Al Ahly’s official account.

FilGoal.com previously reported that Bencharki’s injury was not a cause for concern and that he would be fit to play in the forthcoming derby.

Al Ahly had earlier confirmed that the player would be absent from group training after the coaching staff decided to give him a rest while he recovered from the Achilles tendon problem.

The Cairo club resumed training at the Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium on Sunday as preparations began for the next period of the season.

Bencharki has played five matches for Al Ahly in the Egyptian league this season. He has scored one goal, provided two assists and won a penalty, while also being named player of the match twice.

Since joining Al Ahly, Bencharki has made 58 appearances, scoring 10 goals and registering 14 assists.

Al Ahly will face Zamalek in the derby on 11 October. Before that match, they are scheduled to play Asyut Petroleum in the first round of the Egypt Capital Cup.
