AFC unveils ‘Khuzama’ official ball for 2027 Asian Cup

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and KELME have unveiled “Khuzama”, the official match ball for the 2027 Asian Cup, as the tournament’s countdown reached 100 days until kick-off.

The competition will be held in Saudi Arabia from 7 January to 5 February 2027, with the ball officially presented on Tuesday.

The name Khuzama comes from the wild lavender that grows across Saudi Arabia and is known for its resilience. Its design draws on the striking transformation of the landscape when the flowers bloom simultaneously.

The ball’s distinctive purple colour reflects the traditional ceremonial shade used to welcome honoured guests. It represents the hospitality extended to every team, official and supporter attending the continent’s leading football tournament.

Its design continues the bold, contemporary visual identity of the Saudi Arabia 2027 Asian Cup. The prominent geometric patterns are based on the “Gateway” motif, a central graphic element inspired by the architectural entrances of traditional doors in the Najd region.

A graduated diamond-shaped version of the motif surrounds the tournament emblem on the ball, reflecting the rhythm and openness associated with the region’s handicrafts.

The dark purple, vivid green and sandy tones used on Khuzama have been taken directly from the competition’s official colour palette. Together, they create a visual link with the wider look and feel of the event.

The ball has also been developed to support high-level performance on the pitch. Its high-contrast purple and white panels are intended to provide excellent visibility for players, referees and spectators in every match venue.

That design aims to ensure clear visibility in both daylight and under floodlights throughout the tournament.
