Orlando Pirates duo Mohau Nkota and Andre de Jong are making progress towards their receiver from injury.

Nkota, who joined Pirates on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq for the season, has been sidelined while undergoing rehabilitation alongside Andre de Jong.

The pair have now made progress in their recovery, with Orlando Pirates revealing they have moved into field-based rehabilitation.

“Mohau Nkota and Andre de Jong are continuing to make progress in their respective rehabilitation programmes,” Orlando Pirates said in a statement.

“Nkota is recovering from a knee injury, while De Jong is undergoing treatment for a hamstring injury. Both players have progressed to field-based rehabilitation.”

The duo will therefore continue to work through their rehabilitation programme as the club’s medical team monitors their progress before determining their return to full training.

“Although no timeframe has been confirmed for their return, the move to on-field rehabilitation represents a positive step in their recovery,” the club added.

As it stands, the club is taking a cautious approach to their recovery rather than rushing them back into action.

The move to field-based work suggests the pair are advancing through the rehabilitation process, but will still need to reach full fitness before being considered for a return to matchday action.

For now, Pirates will continue to monitor their condition as they work towards completing the next stages of recovery and eventually rejoining the squad.
