Michael Olise scores late as France narrowly beat Belgium in Nations League

France moved top of their UEFA Nations League group after Michael Olise’s late goal secured a 1-0 victory over Belgium in Brussels.

The decisive moment came in the 88th minute at King Baudouin Stadium, where Olise produced a solo run before guiding a low shot beyond Belgium goalkeeper Sam Laminse.

The result gives France six points from their opening two matches and leaves them at the summit of the group. Belgium remain third on three points.

The match was the second fixture in charge for France manager Zinedine Zidane, who made three changes to his squad by handing first appearances in the national team to Jeremy Jacquet, Andy Diouf and Lucas Da Cunha.

Jacquet, a Liverpool defender, started alongside Inter full-back Diouf and Como midfielder Da Cunha as France continued their campaign with a second consecutive victory.

France had opened the group stage with a 1-0 win against Turkey, while Belgium began with a 2-0 victory over Italy.

The next round of matches will see France face Italy.
