AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Camara seals Burkina Faso victory over Central African Republic

Aboubacar Camara scored the decisive goal as Burkina Faso secured their first victory in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Central African Republic.

The Group F encounter was played at Stade Larbi Zaouli, with Camara breaking the deadlock in the 60th minute.

The forward was played through by Arthur Zagre before finding the net to give Burkina Faso a crucial three points.

Camara breaks deadlock

Burkina Faso had been held to a draw by Benin in their opening qualifier but went into the match knowing a victory would strengthen their position in Group F.

They eventually found the breakthrough 15 minutes after the restart when Camara converted Zagre’s assist to put Burkina Faso ahead.

Central African Republic were unable to find an equaliser as Burkina Faso held on to claim their first win of the qualifying campaign.

Burkina Faso move top of Group F

The victory takes Burkina Faso to four points from their opening two matches and puts them at the top of Group F.

Central African Republic, meanwhile, suffered a second consecutive defeat after losing 3-1 to Mauritania in their opening qualifier.

The result leaves Burkina Faso in a strong position early in the race for qualification, while Central African Republic must now respond in their upcoming matches if they are to remain in contention for a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
