Lamine Camara could leave Monaco in January

Lamine Camara could leave Monaco during the January transfer window after a frustrating end to the summer market.

The Senegal international was reportedly close to joining Chelsea, with an agreement said to have been reached between the player and the English club. However, Monaco ultimately kept him after failing to sell Folarin Balogun.

The decision reportedly disappointed Camara, who remains “still eager” to depart, according to Team Talk. Chelsea have since withdrawn from the race, but interest from the Premier League has not disappeared.

Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Brighton are all monitoring the 22-year-old midfielder. Liverpool are believed to have renewed contact with both Monaco and Camara, while Palace previously made an offer before signing Quinten Timber from Marseille for €20 million.

Newcastle are considering Camara after losing Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali during the summer. Brighton, meanwhile, continue to track the Monaco player.

Camara’s departure would weaken Filipe Luis’ squad. He has started every match this season without being substituted, contributing one goal and one assist. Monaco have reportedly raised their asking price to €70 million, making a January transfer more attractive financially than sporting reasons suggest.
