Chaabani sets Tunisia clear target for Botswana clash

Tunisia coach Mouine Chaabani says his side must beat Botswana in their second Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying match after drawing with Uganda.

“We have no choice but to win,” Chaabani said, promising that “everything will be done” to secure all three points.

The result against Uganda has increased the pressure on Tunisia to respond, with Chaabani expecting a stronger performance from his players against Botswana.

However, the coach cautioned against making quick judgements about a team still being rebuilt. He said several members of the squad were only beginning to gain experience of major international competitions.

“We have players who are only just getting used to major competitions,” Chaabani said.

He added: “We need to give them time” and not “judge them on one match”.

Chaabani also stressed that collective unity would be vital as Tunisia continue their development.

“We are in a reconstruction phase. We need everyone: the public, the players and the staff. Together, we can succeed,” he said.
