Beganovic proud as Seema and Sebelebele make Bafana Bafana progress

Former TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic says Lebone Seema and Kamogelo Sebelebele’s rise at Orlando Pirates reflects both their individual ability and the development work carried out at their former club.

The pair joined Pirates from TS Galaxy in 2025 and have since established themselves as regulars for the Soweto club. Both are now members of Pitso Mosimane’s Bafana Bafana squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Sebelebele had already been involved with the national team under former coach Hugo Broos and was included in South Africa’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Seema has now received his first opportunity at international level after making significant strides since moving to Pirates.

Speaking exclusively to the Siya crew, Beganovic praised the progress made by both players and said their development was evidence of the work undertaken at the Mpumalanga-based club.

“Lebone really exploded when he got to Orlando Pirates. That’s it. Just like Mike Mamosha (Kamogelo Sebelebele), they both excelled. Lebone played some good games for TS Galaxy, and Mike also played very well for us. He deserved to have that moment at Orlando Pirates,” Beganovic said.

A vision shared across the club

Beganovic said the emergence of players capable of representing South Africa had been a deliberate objective at TS Galaxy, rather than an unexpected outcome.

“We spoke about this at TS Galaxy. It was part of the vision of the club. We trained hard, we prepared everything properly and we gave 100% in the games.”

The former Galaxy coach also stressed that the achievement belonged to everyone at the club, rather than to one individual.

“We expected to produce players, and we did. When I say ‘we’, I mean all of us together. It was not only me. From the board and the people at the top right down to everyone at the bottom, we all needed to be on the same page if we wanted to have success. That was my vision of football,” he added.

Seema and Sebelebele’s inclusion in Mosimane’s Bafana Bafana squad represents the latest stage of their progress since leaving TS Galaxy. Their development has also provided Beganovic with an example of what can be achieved when a club’s technical direction, coaching and player-development structures are aligned.

For the former Galaxy manager, the pair’s progress offers a model that other PSL clubs could follow as they seek to develop players for the national team.
