Wydad Casablanca defender Walid Nassi undergoes surgery after serious injury

Wydad Athletic Club have confirmed that midfielder Walid Nassi will be out of action for between eight and 12 weeks after undergoing surgery on a fractured right clavicle.

Nassi suffered the injury during Wydad’s Botola Pro match against newly promoted Wydad Temara on Saturday, a game the Casablanca side lost heavily in their first appearance at the “Donors” Stadium.

Nassi undergoes successful surgery

Wydad said Nassi underwent successful surgery on Sunday under the supervision of the club’s doctor, Professor Anis Chagou.

The club said medical examinations carried out after the injury revealed a fracture of the player’s right clavicle, known in French as a “Fracture de la clavicule droite”.

The nature of the injury meant surgical intervention was required.

Wydad face lengthy absence

According to the club, Nassi is expected to spend between eight and 12 weeks on the sidelines.

His exact recovery period will depend on his health and his response to treatment and the rehabilitation programme.

Wydad concluded their statement by wishing Nassi a speedy recovery and a quick return to competitive football.

The injury adds to a difficult start for Wydad, who suffered a resounding defeat against Wydad Temara in their opening Botola Pro fixture.

Temara were recently promoted to the Moroccan professional league and secured a notable victory over their more established opponents.
