Ghana name 25-player squad for U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign

Ghana have called up 25 players for a training camp as they begin preparations for the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations U23 qualifiers.

The Black Meteors’ camp will start on Tuesday, 29 September, at Prampram as the team prepares for its first involvement in the qualifying competition.

Ghana were given a bye through the opening round and will face the winner of the tie between Togo and Libya. The two sides are scheduled to meet in Lome on 30 September, with the return leg to be played several days later.

The winners will then take on Ghana in the second round. The first leg is scheduled for 9 November, with the return fixture to follow a week later.

The Africa Cup of Nations U23 also serves as qualification for the Olympic Games. Ghana have not appeared at the competition since 2004, leaving the Black Meteors aiming to end a wait of more than two decades.
