Mayssa Baha becomes Liga F’s youngest-ever scorer for Barcelona at 15

Mayssa Baha made Spanish football history on Saturday, becoming the youngest player to score in Liga F after helping FC Barcelona beat Logrono 2-0.

The Morocco international was 15 years, eight months and 10 days old when she headed Barcelona in front during the fifth round of the Spanish Championship.

Named in the starting line-up, Baha needed only 17 minutes to make her mark. Caroline Graham Hansen delivered the corner and the teenager rose to score her first league goal, setting a new Liga F record in the process.

Patricia Guijarro added Barcelona’s second goal in the 71st minute. The victory also moved the Catalan side to the top of the table, ahead of Real Madrid.

Baha’s achievement underlines the rapid progress of one of Morocco’s most promising young players. Having been developed partly at FC Barcelona, she was included in the first-team squad during their summer preparations despite her age.

Only a few weeks later, she has already scored in the league and broken a record for the youngest goalscorer in Liga F.

The teenager’s name is already familiar to Moroccan football supporters. She is the daughter of Nabil Baha, the current coach of Morocco’s under-23 side, and the younger sister of Ziyad Baha, another player regarded as a significant prospect.

Nabil Baha won 20 caps for Morocco during his playing career, most of which was spent in Spain, where he raised his children. He later became coach of Morocco’s under-17 team, guiding them to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations at that level before taking charge of the under-23 side.

Ziyad Baha has also represented Morocco at youth level and continues his development with the under-19 team at Olympique de Marseille.

Mayssa is now the latest member of the family to make a name in the game. Her record-setting goal provides another boost for Moroccan football and confirms her emergence as one of the leading prospects of her generation.
