Henri Bedimo, the Cameroonian left-back, joined Lyon from Montpellier during the last transfer window for a three-season contract. Bedimo has proven to be a positive addition to Lyon, while other recruits, such as Gaël Danic and Miguel Lopes, are struggling to find their rhythm.
Bedimo had considered Lyon as a potential destination earlier, even during the year of Montpellier’s title (2012). At that time, the club was not willing to sell, as he was just named the best left-back in Ligue 1. However, Lyon’s proposal became more appealing during the recent transfer window.
Despite having contact with foreign clubs, including those in the Premier League such as Sunderland and Cardiff, Bedimo chose Lyon because he preferred to stay in Ligue 1. He was attracted by the possibility of playing in Europe with Lyon, and he admired the club’s past success, having faced formidable Lyon teams in the past.
Bedimo emphasized his preference for staying in France and expressed that Lyon provided a suitable environment for him, given his familiarity with French football and the club’s European ambitions.
