Sporting’s title defence begins as first-round Women’s Linked League results are confirmed

The first round of the 2026-2027 Women’s Basketball Linked League season produced a series of decisive results, with Sporting, Al Ahly, Smouha and El Gezira among the winners.

In the linked competition, El Gezira edged El Olympi 68-66, while Smouha recorded the biggest victory of the round by beating El Shams 92-31.

Al Ahly also secured a commanding win against Zamalek, prevailing 93-37. Sporting defeated Al Sekka Al Hadid 96-46, and New Giza won 55-40 against El Seid.

The results from the women’s matches were:

– National Bank of Egypt 61-51 Gezira Al Ward – Sporting 77-46 Al Sekka Al Hadid – Al Ahly 103-42 Zamalek – El Gezira 77-40 El Olympi – Heliopolis 77-41 Nasr City Sporting Club – El Seid 62-53 New Giza – Smouha 82-53 El Shams

The competition features 16 teams: Sporting, Al Ahly, New Giza, Zamalek, El Seid, Misr Insurance, El Zohour, Al Sekka Al Hadid, Heliopolis, Nasr City, National Bank of Egypt, Gezira Al Ward, El Gezira, El Olympi, Smouha and El Shams.

Sporting enter the campaign as the defending Women’s Linked League champions after winning last season’s title.
