Saudi Arabia reach Gulf Cup semi-finals with 3-0 win over Oman

Saudi Arabia became the first team to qualify for the Gulf Cup semi-finals after beating Oman 3-0 in their second Group A match.

Firas Al-Buraikan scored twice, while Hassan Kadesh also found the net as Saudi Arabia secured their second victory of the tournament.

Al-Buraikan opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Kadesh doubled Saudi Arabia’s advantage seven minutes later with a header.

Al-Buraikan completed the scoring in the 34th minute, giving Saudi Arabia a commanding lead before half-time.

The result moved Saudi Arabia to six points and confirmed their place in the last four. They had previously beaten Kuwait and now sit top of Group A with a perfect record after two matches.

Oman remain third with one point from their draw with Iraq and have only a slim chance of progressing ahead of the final round of group fixtures.

Iraq are second on four points after drawing with Oman and securing a dramatic victory over Kuwait.

Kuwait are bottom of the group and have been eliminated from the tournament following defeats by Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Saudi Arabia will play Iraq in their final group match, while Kuwait face Oman on Tuesday next.
