Mohamed Salah crowned Europe’s best player of the week after Trabzonspor heroics

Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has been voted the best player of the week in Europe following his outstanding performance in Trabzonspor’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.

Salah topped a fan poll conducted by beIN SPORTS, receiving 78.8% of the votes to finish comfortably ahead of his competitors. Barcelona star Raphinha received 17.4%, Sunderland forward Brian Brobbey collected 2.7%, while Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah finished fourth with 1.1%.

Salah’s recognition comes after a remarkable display against Galatasaray on September 19, when he scored a hat-trick and provided an assist to directly contribute to all four of Trabzonspor’s goals.

The Egypt captain opened the scoring in the fourth minute before setting up Noah Saviolo for Trabzonspor’s second goal in the 39th minute. He then restored his side’s three-goal advantage with his second goal in the 44th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 80th minute.

His performance earned him a perfect 10/10 rating from Sofascore, underlining his influence in one of Trabzonspor’s most impressive victories of the season.

The hat-trick also took Salah’s league tally to seven goals in six appearances for Trabzonspor, while he has also registered two assists during his impressive start to the campaign.

Salah’s latest individual recognition adds to the growing attention surrounding his performances since joining Trabzonspor, with the Egyptian quickly establishing himself as a key attacking figure for the Turkish club.

The 34-year-old will now turn his attention to international duty as he prepares to link up with the Egyptian national team for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Angola.

With Egypt beginning their qualification campaign, Salah will be expected to carry his club form into the national team as the Pharaohs begin their pursuit of a place at the 2027 continental tournament.
