Angola coach Aliou Cisse reveals offers from Egyptian clubs

Angola head coach Aliou Cisse has revealed that he has received offers from clubs in Egypt and reiterated his desire to coach in the Egyptian league at some point in his career.

Cisse, who guided Senegal to their first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021, is now preparing to lead Angola into the 2027 AFCON qualifiers as the Palancas Negras face Egypt in their opening fixture.

Angola will take on the Pharaohs on Friday, September 25, 2026, with both sides looking to begin their qualification campaign on a positive note.

Ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, Cisse disclosed that coaching in Egypt remains one of his ambitions and confirmed that he has already received offers from Egyptian clubs, although he chose not to reveal their identities.

“I was talking to Mabululu and I was telling him that I have a wish, which is to coach in Egypt, and I did indeed receive offers from Egypt, but I will not mention the names of the clubs, and currently the best offer for me was from Angola,” Cisse said.

The Senegalese tactician will now shift his full attention to the task at hand as Angola prepare for a difficult opening assignment against Egypt.

Cisse also took the opportunity to praise Egypt’s recent performances under Hossam Hassan, congratulating the Pharaohs on what he described as impressive achievements on the international stage.

“My presence here is an opportunity to congratulate the Egyptian national team on their outstanding performance in the World Cup. Hossam Hassan achieved something exceptional, and he not only pleased the Egyptian fans, but also all the African fans,” Cisse said.

He added: “During the last eight months, the Egyptian national team achieved victory in the Africa Cup of Nations against the defending champion, Ivory Coast, and qualified for the round of 16 in the World Cup, and was a match for Argentina. What the Egyptian national team achieved is exceptional.”

Cisse will now look to put his knowledge of Egyptian football to use as Angola seek a strong start to their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

The presence of players with experience of Egyptian football, including Mabululu, could also provide Angola with useful insight into their opponents as they prepare to face the Pharaohs on their home ground.
